SEER2 rating helps consumers compare energy efficiency when choosing a new air conditioner. Higher SEER2 ratings mean significant utility savings. The federal minimum is 14 SEER2 with ratings into the 20 SEER2 range. A 20 SEER2 uses half the energy of a 10 seer much like MPG ratings for vehicles.

Best for cold climates and if you already have a gas furnace or a gas fuel supply already available.

You’ll need about 25-30 Btu’s per sq. foot for warmer winter climates and about 35-50 Btu’s per sq. foot for colder winter climates – highly dependent on construction type and insulation values.
